Flood warning issued for Dubois through the week, for Riverton late Friday and Saturday

(Riverton, Wyo.) – Flood Warning issued this morning for the Wind River in the Dubois area. Warming temperatures predicted this week is anticipated to release water content in the snowpack in the higher elevations. The complete warning is copied below:

1049 AM MDT TUE JUN 3 2014

...THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN RIVERTON HAS ISSUED A FLOOD
WARNING FOR THE FOLLOWING RIVERS IN WYOMING...

  WIND RIVER NEAR DUBOIS AFFECTING FREMONT COUNTY.

.THE SNOWPACK AT THE 9500 TO 10000 FOOT ELEVATION IS VERY
RIPE OR WATER LADEN. AFTERNOON TEMPERATURES IN THE NEXT FEW
DAYS WILL CAUSE ENOUGH SNOWMELT RUNOFF TO CAUSE ADDITIONAL
MINOR FLOODING ALONG THE WIND RIVER THROUGH THE REMAINDER OF
THIS WEEK.

THE WIND RIVER AT RIVERTON WILL CONTINUE TO SLOWLY RISE THROUGH THE
WEEK AND IS EXPECTED TO CREST JUST ABOVE FLOOD STAGE BY LATE FRIDAY
NIGHT INTO EARLY SATURDAY MORNING.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

DO NOT DRIVE THROUGH FLOODED AREAS. MOVE TO HIGHER GROUND.
