Report: Two drunk drivers hit each other head-on on Smith Road

(Riverton, Wyo.) – Fremont County Sheriff’s Department Deputies issued citations for Driving while under the Influence of Alcohol to both drivers involved in a two vehicle head on collision Wednesday night in the 1300 block of North Smith Road.

According to a statement released by Undersheriff Ryan Lee, 20-year-old Misti Duran of Riverton veered into oncoming traffic hitting another vehicle head-on. The driver of the second vehicle was identified as 43 year old Joseph Parish of Riverton. Both drivers were taken to SageWest-Riverton by ambulance for minor injuries and subsequently issued summons to appear in court.

“The Deputy had probable cause to believe both drivers were impaired by alcohol. Blood evidence was collected from both Duran and Parish, the results are pending,” Lee said in the statement.

The investigating Deputy indicated the collision appeared to be “high speed”, and the vehicles sustained major damage. The Parish vehicle, a 2005 Honda passenger car, had a single occupant identified as a 42-year-old Riverton man. Duran was the sole occupant of a 2005 Pontiac sedan. Investigative details are unavailable as of this morning; the Deputy is still completing the State Collision Report, the statement concluded.
