Police Blotter: Arrests; Lander man caught with meth; LPD called for rabbit and bat issues

(Fremont County, Wyo.) – Here is the Thursday’s recap of law enforcement activity around the county. All those arrested or cited are presumed innocent until convicted in a court of law.

Lander Police Department

The following information is calls on Tuesday and Wednesday of this week.

Arrests/citations:

A 16-year-old Lander girl cited for Minor in Possession.

Dean Lynn, 42, Riverton, Driving Under the Influence and a Colorado Warrant. Lynn was arrested following an 11:30 p.m. traffic stop on Tuesday in the area of North Fifth and Amoretti streets.

Laveda Bell, 34, Riverton, DUI. Bell was arrested Wednesday morning following a report of a hit and run wreck on Amoretti Street.

A 17-year-old Riverton boy was arrested for Minor in Possession and Interference. The boy was arrested after police were called to a local motel that was having issues with tenants on Wednesday morning.

Michael Gray, 37, Lander, Public Intoxication. Gray was arrested late Wednesday evening following a call to the area of North Fifth and Amoretti Streets.

James Hammond, 50, Lander, Misdemeanor Possession of Methamphetamine. Hammond was reportedly arrested after police stopped his vehicle for a tail light violation in the area of Highway 789 and Valley View. The amount was less than 3 grams.

Calls:

At 8:07 a.m. on Tuesday, a man at a location on Main Street reported the flower pot outside his apartment was smoking. After soaking it with water, the man wanted to speak with police about the incident.

Fireworks were reported early Tuesday afternoon in the area of North Eighth and Hobson. The caller said dogs in the neighborhood were scared by the noise.

Medicine was reported stolen from a residence on Cross Street after the homeowner was gone for a little more than an hour.

Tuesday afternoon’s three vehicle wreck on the 300 block of Main Street has resulted in no citations at this time. There were no serious injuries. The driver of the truck in the back of the line of cars reportedly didn’t notice the vehicles in front of him were stopped, striking the car directly in front of him which then struck a third vehicle.

Gas was reportedly stolen from a four-wheeler off Bonnie Brae.

At 8:45 p.m., a caller on Sixth Street reported that someone threw something at the caller’s windshield.

A tire was reportedly slashed on a vehicle sometime Tuesday evening or early Wednesday morning at an address on East Main Street.

At 7:31 a.m., police were called about a suspicious Suburban sitting outside of a location on Main Street. The caller believed the occupants of the vehicle might be on a scouting mission.

An injured rabbit was reported at 8:10 a.m. at an address on Christina Drive. It reportedly had broken legs.

At 12:17 p.m., a caller on Smith Street reported that there are frequently cars racing up and down Smith Street around 8 a.m. and 5 p.m.

At 2:24 p.m. another caller on Smith Street requested help from police with removing a bat from a car port.

 

Riverton Police Department

Arrests/Citations:

Jeffrey Waymire, 52, Riverton, Big Horn County Warrant.

Merlin Black, 38, Riverton, Municipal Warrant and Public Intoxication.

A 16-year-old Riverton boy cited for Theft of Services.

Calls:

At 10:05 a.m., police were called to a business on the 700 block of South Federal for a report of a theft. Capt. CT Smith said the report is still under investigation, and additional information was not available for release at this time.

Twice a local man was moved along from wearing out his welcome at a couple downtown businesses.

At 1:26 p.m., a caller reported a female subject on the 1200 block of North Federal yelling at herself. No additional information was included in the report.

A hit and run wreck Wednesday in the Walmart parking lot is still under investigation. The report is not yet complete.

At 6:02 p.m., police were called to the 1000 block of East Adams for a complaint about a child riding an electric motorcycle on the street. Police arrived and found the child to be under parental supervision.

At 9:12 p.m., police documented a report of items missing from a residence on the 500 block of North 15th Street.

A report of shoplifting at 9:17 p.m. at a convenience store on North Federal was taken.

 

Fremont County Sheriff’s Office

Arrests:

Jesse Walthers, 25, Riverton, Probation Revocation.

Calls:

At 10:04 a.m., deputies were called to the 600 block of Cherry Street near Riverton by a woman who said another female subject in a bra defecated behind a camper in front of the caller. Deputies were unable to locate anyone matching the subscription.

A woman outside of Lander reported to deputies that her grandmother gave out her Social Security Number to a fraudulent caller.

Pills were reported stolen from a home in in the Lander area. The alleged burglary is under investigation.

A report of possible drug use in the Riverton area is under investigation. The report stated a girl thought her mother was using drugs.

Deputies were called to the area of the Kinnear Store for a report of pit bull running after people. Deputies were unable to locate the the dog.

At 7:08 p.m., deputies were called to Boysen State Park for a report of a boat in the water with no one in it. The call was turned over to State Park law enforcement.
