(Riverton, Wyo.) – The National Weather Service in Riverton issued at 10:49 a.m. today a flood warning for the Wind River near Dubois and at Riverton.

“Very warm afternoon temperatures Tuesday and Wednesday will cause excessive snowmelt runoff along the upper Wind River Basin through Thursday,” the warning states. “The Wind River from Dubois to Riverton will continue to see sharp rises Wednesday through Friday in response to the excessive snowmelt runoff.”

The warning goes on to state the warning is in affect through Friday morning. The river is expected to rise above slood stage in the Riverton area after midnight on Wednesday and could crest near 10.4 feet by late Thursday evening.
