(Riverton, Wyo.) – Utility work near Mary Drive this coming week may close its intersection with Riverview Road and force residents to detour to Riverview via Henry Drive, according to Friday’s road construction update from the Wyoming Department of Transportation.
The gas line installation is expected to be complete next week on the $2.8 million highway improvement project in Riverton.
Crews were preparing Friday afternoon to shut down operations for the three-day Memorial Day weekend.
Crews with prime contractor Jerry Bornhoft Construction Co., are preparing to begin installing storm sewer on Hill Street about June 1. To accomplish this work, work crews may close Hill Street for up to two days. If this closure happens, Riverview traffic will be detoured to Riverview via Major Avenue.
Working hours of the prime contractor are 6:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. Traffic is being allowed to pass through the project from 6:30 a.m. to 8 a.m. without being stopped by flaggers. During the remainder of the work day, travelers may encounter delays of up to 15 minutes.
“Citizens are invited to attend a 1 p.m. work progress meeting every Thursday at the City of Riverton’s Public Works Building on Monroe Avenue,” said Robert Scheidemantel, Wyoming Department of Transportation resident engineer in Riverton.
Jerry Bornhoft Construction, Inc.’s scope of work on the Riverview project includes grading, draining, milling existing asphalt, placing crushed gravel base, asphalt paving, chip sealing, removal of the existing Riverton Valley Irrigation District canal bridge, curb and gutter, water main replacement, sanitary sewer and electrical improvements, fencing and other work on .94 miles of Riverview Road beginning at milepost 2.16 in the City of Riverton between Rein Road and Augusta Drive.
Contract completion date is Sept. 30, 2014.
