(Lander, Wyo.) – A portion of Louis Lake Rd., FR300, on the Washakie Ranger District of the Shoshone National Forest opened this morning for the start of Memorial Day weekend.  Louis Lake Rd., also known as the Loop Rd., is open from the switchbacks to Worthen Meadows Campground and trailhead.

Forest staff said the users should expect the campgrounds to be muddy and approximately a quarter of the reservoir to still have ice.

To ensure public safety, the remainder of the Louis Lake Rd. will stay closed to allow the snow to melt.  Pending any further weather episodes, we anticipate the remainder of Louis Lake Rd. will open in June.  Further information about that opening will be released when available.

For further information about the closure, please contact the Washakie Ranger District office at 307-332-5460.
