(Lander, Wyo.) – Earlier this week sixth-graders from Lander Middle School spent time in Sinks Canyon to plant trees to replace lodge pole pines killed by bark beetles, teacher Gayla Hammer reports.

“The students learned the property procedure for planting and took extra steps to make sure these trees survive,” she said.

The money for the trees was donated by Cheyenne Central High School students who raised funds through a recycling program along with Wyoming State Parks and Trails. Sinks Canyon State Park’s Darrel Trembly helped organized the activity.
