(Lamont, Wyo.) – Wyoming Highway Patrol Troopers are at the scene of a fatal crash on U.S.  287 between Muddy Gap and Rawlins, the WHP reports.

“At around 12:45 p.m. today patrol was advised of a crash at or about mile post 28.5 near Lamont, WY involving two commercial vehicles,” states a WHP news release. “Troopers arrived on scene to find at least two commercial vehicles involved, one of which was on fire. A large quantity of hot oil was spilled from one of the vehicles and is covering the highway making cleanup more difficult.”

At least two people have been reported killed in the near head-in collision.

“The highway is currently closed and will remain so until the investigation is complete and the roadway cleaned of all debris. Travelers are encouraged to find alternative routes if possible as this closure may be extended due to the circumstances of this crash,” the WHP states.
