(Fort Washakie, Wyo.) - Those attending a beekeeping workshop in Fort Washakie will hear a caring for bees and honey production overview and then have the option to build a hive to take home.

Cost for the session, 9 a.m.-2 p.m. Friday, May 30, at the Frank B. Wise Business Plaza, is $60 if building a hive or $5 if only attending, said Justina Russell, University of Wyoming Extension educator. Attendees will build top bar hives. Materials are provided.

The pros and cons of using a top bar hive (combs hang from removable bars) versus a traditional Langstroth hive (upright) is examined. Russell advised attendees to be prepared to work outdoors with boots, gloves, long sleeves and pants.

Registration is requested by Friday, May 23. Call the Wind River extension office at 307-332-2135 to register.
