UPDATE to Lander stand-off: Stolen vehicle recovered, suspect still at large

UPDATE at 11:50 p.m.: The standoff on the 900 block of Washakie Street has ended, with a suspected stolen vehicle recovered from the scene. Lander Police Det. Sgt. Fred Cox reports that the silver Subaru bearing 2 county plates was reported stolen in the Riverton area by a male subject. He said the vehicle was located at the address on Washakie Street, and the residence was surrounded. After searching the home, the suspect was not located, Cox said.

(Lander, Wyo.) – County10.com’s Joshua Scheer is reporting that police have surrounded a house in the 900 block of Washakie Street in Lander where a fugitive is reportedly holed up after a high speed chase that is believed to have begun between Riverton and Hudson. Scheer said a witness reported a silver Subaru sped through Hudson at speeds reported to be in excess of 100 mph before racing through several Lander streets. The suspect then jumped out of the vehicle and entered a house.

Scheer will remain on the scene and provide updates as they are available.

    I seen this today and what a ridiculous site over a stolen car. No less than 12 officers on site. I thought it was something really awful!
