(Riverton, Wyo.) – Water service was restored at 3:30 p.m.Tuesday afternoon on a main that burst early in the morning along Augusta Drive and the Riverton Country Club’s 12th fairway. Acting Public Works Director Dawn Willhelm said the break occurred on a ductile iron pipe that the city wants to replace at some point.
Tuesday’s rupture is the fifth in that same line since last Labor Day. Willhelm said the line is deteriorating and work ongoing along the Riverview Road Reconstruction project is a contributing factor to the line’s latest break. “When the water is turned off, pressure in the line is reduced and weak areas collapse. Then when the water comes back on, we have a leak,” she said.
