RPD’s School Resource Officer program recognized nationally

(Riverton, Wyo.) – The Riverton Police Department and Fremont County School Distsrict 25 were celebrated in the Spring 2014 edition of The Journal of School Safety magazine.

The two-page feature resulted from the selection of the RPD as the National Association of School Resource Officers’s “RO Model Agency Award,” which was presented earlier this year.

Middle School SRO Cody Myers is featured on the cover of the magazine. Riverton currently has three SROs in District 25 schools, Charlie Marshall at Riverton High School, Myers, and Sergio Cabada rotates between the elementary schools. Plans are under consideration to an another SRO at Central Wyoming College.

At Tuesday night’s Riverton School Board meeting, Superintendent Terry Snyder noted the accomplishments of the SRO program and how effectively it has been within the district.

So proud of you Cody! Thanks for all you do to keep our kids safe at school.

  2. Ellen Sparks

It's good that the actions of the police department are a part of the school. These children need more protection than they realize – God Bless them.
