(Lander, Wyo.) – HK Contractors of Pocatello, Idaho is the low bidder on phase two of the Eight Mile Road project, involving an asphalt overlay and other work. The five mile-long phase two project begins at South Irishman Road north to its intersection with Highway 134 at Midvale.

HK’s bid was $2,044,654.94. Fremont County Transportation Department Superintendent Dave Pendleton said the Wyoming Department of Transportation must sign off on the bid and a county budget hearing set to transfer funds for the project. Pendleton said he intends to bring the project bid to the county commissioners at its May 6th meeting for approval.

Last year just under four miles of the south end of the highway had an asphalt overlay.

“Oddly enough, the Eight Mile Road is nine miles long,” he said.
