Andrea Clifford announces run in HD 33; Seeking to replace her uncle in legislature

(Ethete, Wyo.) – Democrat Andrea “Andi”  A. Clifford announced her candidacy for State Representative seat in House District 33 today (Tuesday).

An enrolled member of the Northern Arapaho Tribe, Clifford was born and raised on the Wind River Indian Reservation.  She holds a Master’s Degree in Public Administration from the University of Wyoming and is a 2010 graduate of Leadership Wyoming. During her graduate program, Clifford gained experience by serving as an intern during the 2005 state legislative session.

Current House District 33 Representative Patrick Goggles announced last month that he would not seek reelection after serving in the seat for 10 years. Clifford hopes to continue her uncle’s trailblazing legacy that has helped democrats have a consistent voice in the Wyoming House of Representatives.

Clifford’s intentions are to support legislation in the areas of education, youth initiatives, equality, Veteran’s issues and economic diversity, specifically job creation, according to the news release announcing her bid.

Clifford currently serves as the Assistant General Manager for the Wind River Hotel and Casino. “With over 700 employees, Clifford has learned the importance of hearing both sides of an issue and weighing on sound decisions that might be difficult to make,” the statement said.

About her candidacy, Clifford had this to say, “I may not know every issue but I have the willingness to learn, the passion to listen and the heart to fight for what is right.”

A mother of four, Clifford said she is ready to hear and be a strong voice for the people of District 33.

“It is my commitment if elected to listen to and represent every aspect of my district and the State of Wyoming,” she said.
