(Lander, Wyo.) – Lander musher Jerry Bath has set the record for the most wins on the 100-mile race at Idaho’s American Dog Derby.
Last year Jerry Bath surpassed Tud Kent’s six-win record by winning the race for a seventh time. Kent’s record was set between 1917 and 1926. While Bath has won seven times, five of those were consecutive.

This year’s Derby is this weekend, and Bath was set to win the 100-mile leg for an eighth time. However, due to unexpected warm temperatures, the 100-mile “Tud” Kent Race was cancelled.
“I am planning on taking the younger dogs that were not on the stage stop team and just have some fun in one of the shorter classes,” he said. “I have some really talented yearlings who I need to expose to racing and travel anyway.”
