(Lander, Wyo.) – The Fremont County Library in Lander held a reception this afternoon to thank the Lander Library Friends Association, the Fremont County Library Foundation and others for making the Carnegie building back into a useable space that can now host Met Opera performances.
The Carnegie’s long renovation is ongoing, but finally the technology has been upgraded to a point where a crowd can attend the performances and watch them in high definition and on a large projected screen.
Chuck Chidsey told the crowd during today’s performance’s intermission that this was the third season for Lander to be able to host the opera, and he gave the history of how the performances came together.
Lander branch manager Barbara Oakleaf said, “It is truly a magnificent building, and the room is beginning to live up to it.”
