(Lander, Wyo.) – This morning, acclaimed saxophonist Rob Verdi performed for Lander’s second- and third-graders and worked with middle school and high school students later in the day.
Verdi performed as part of the Lander Community Concert Series on Sunday, and again today, showing off his collection of rare and unusual saxophone variations.
This morning for the elementary students, Verdi played children’s classics such as the SpongeBob SquarePants theme song, ‘When You Wish Upon a Star,’ and a jazzy version of the theme to the Flintstones.
Later he held workshops with the LVHS Jazz Band and the eighth-grade Concert Band.
Verdi was brought to the schools through Performing Arts in Lander Schools, the LCCA and the Wyoming Arts Council.
