(Lander, Wyo.) – Yesterday, Wendell George Moss pleaded guilty in Wyoming’s Ninth District Court to Aggravated Assault and Battery connected to his allegedly stabbing his brother Darrell Moss in October 2013.
Per the plea agreement filed in the case earlier in January, Moss would plead guilty to the assault charge in exchanged for an attempted murder charge being dismissed.
Moss agreed to a sentence of between 8 and 10 years in prison for the assault. He will also be required to pay restitution. Prior to the plea agreement, if he had been convicted on the attempted murder charge, he would be serving a minimum 20 years in prison.
The incident in question alleged occurred on the 900 block of East Monroe Avenue in Riverton on the afternoon of Oct. 11.
According to an affidavit filed in the case, Fremont County Sheriff’s Det. Eric Granlund was informed by other law enforcement that Darrell Moss identified his brother as the stabber. Reportedly a Wanda Willow also identified Wendell Moss as the perpetrator.
“The victim, Darrell Moss, Jr., was observed to have a puncture wound in the right side of his chest that appeared to be bleeding,” states the affidavit. The court documents also state that Darrell Moss was stabilized at Riverton Memorial Hospital before being transferred to Wyoming Medical Center in Casper.
Moss will be sentenced at a later date.
