(Lander, Wyo.) – A Lander sculptor delivered his latest work to the City of Milpitas, Calif., this past week. David Alan Clark’s bronze is of Daniel Chester French’s Concord Minute Man. No, that’s not the wrong coast for a Minute Man. It seems that some 60 years ago, the City of San Jose tried to annex Milpitas, and the locals nearly took up arms. A local publisher grabbed some clip art that was incorporated into the Milpitas City Seal in opposition to the larger city’s move, and it’s been a tradition ever since.
The twice-life size bronze was cast in Utah at Baer Bronze, and the finished statue was delivered to Milpitas this past week and placed in front of their city hall.
Clark has several local sculptures, including a horse at the Wyoming Honor Farm, John Wesley Powell at the Sweetwater Historic Museum in Green River and his most recent local installation, Lambing Season in Rock Springs (see below), among others. For more information, click here.
