(Riverton,Wyo) – Two Riverton Police Officers will be nominated for a life-saving award after resuscitating a one-year-old baby Friday in the 300 block of Spire Drive. Police received a call that the child had been found drowned in a bathtub, was lifeless, not breathing with no pulse and gray in color. Officers Jacob Nation and Gilbert Peck responded to the scene and began CPR on the infant. The child began breathing and a heartbeat was restored. The child was transported to Riverton Memorial Hospital for further treatment.

“These two officers saved a life,” Captain Eric Murphy said.

According to the police report, the child was taking a bath with her two sisters when the mother momentarily left the bathroom to serve her husband his dinner. One of the other children came out of the bathroom to report that there was poop in the water. When the mother returned, she found the child face down and blue in the tub. The husband was on the couch eating his dinner and watching TV. The other children were both females, ages two and three.
