(Lander, Wyo.) – Candra Marrow is a senior at Pathfinder High School and has been named PHS’s Student of the Month.
Her language arts teacher, April Lopez, writes on her transformation: “Not too long ago, Candra struggled academically and behaviorally. She has turned over a new leaf the last couple of months, and as I’ve said many times to her, she has morphed from a caterpillar into a butterfly. She is compassionate, motivated to learn, and wants to succeed in high school and beyond. Also, with a baby on the way, she has re-doubled her efforts to make positive changes in her life. She has taken parenting classes on top of heavy coursework. Candra has matured significantly and she is a pleasure to have in the classroom.”
Candra writes why she is successful at PHS, “Pathfinder is a great place to learn because the classes are smaller, so it is easier to get things done. It is a better learning environment because people they are willing to help. The staff truly cares and teaches with their hearts.”
Ms. Marrow spoke about her plans after she graduates, “After high school, I hope that I can go to cosmetology. I also want to also explore careers as a veterinary technician. However, first and foremost, I am going to create the best life I can for my daughter and I.”
