(Pavillion, Wyo.) – The drama program at Wind River High School attended the Wyoming State Drama Meet for the first time this year, and came back with an All-State Award recipient for placing in the 10 over all classes.
“This was sour first time attending the state competition,” said fifth year WRHS Drama Coach Malinda Garcia. “Our class has 20 students, but many had just finished our showcase performance at Central Wyoming College, so only those who felt up to dual performances went. We took 12 students.”
Coy Carroll, a sophomore, received an All State Award for placing in the top 10 over all classes. He performed a self-written dramatic monologue called “Darkness.” He was also awarded an honorable mention for his dramatic duet performed with junior Ranelle Hindman for their piece called “The Talk,” Garcia said.
Wind River was also awarded a WEST Conference banner for raising the most money in the scholarship auction with a Sasquatch suit. Additionally, Garcia was elected as a member of the WEST Board, the organization that is responsible for setting up state drama and other theater/arts programs around Wyoming.
