Going in on the second story. (eo)

(Riverton, Wyo.) – Fire Station #4 in Riverton was busy yesterday with a myriad of training taking place during the annual Mid Winter Fire School hosted by the Riverton Fire Department and the Wyoming State Firefighters Association.

On the north end of the building, trainer Doug O’Donnell had a classroom full of firefighters in the Advanced Pump and Hose Training workshop. The class later moved outside and ran through the mechanics of two of Riverton’s pumper trucks, from Co. #2 and Co. #8.

Outside with the pumper trucks, members of the Centennial Valley Fire Department from Centennial, Wyo., SW of Laramie, firefighters Nick Cary, Robert McCann and Justin Cartright were getting tips from trainer Taig O’Donnell of Billings.

The classroom and fire pumper training was put to work Sunday morning in realistic hands-on training at the Wyoming Fire Academy off of Smith Road. With hoses charged, firefighters with thermal imaging cameras and wearing air packs entered a smoke filled two-story training structure.
