Wyoming Catholic College President Dr. Kevin Roberts.
(Lander, Wyo.) – Upon assuming office as the new president of Wyoming Catholic College earlier this year, Dr. Kevin Roberts expressed his great excitement for the task ahead, exhorting his listeners to “harness the holy audacity that this College has always represented, and fuel it with the holy zeal that only God’s apostles can possess. …Our mission, therefore, is nothing less than following the words of St. Ignatius of Loyola: ‘Go forth and set the world on fire!’”
In response to this exhortation, a group of friends challenged the College with several large gifts totaling $500,000, asking that the College seek to double their gifts through a matching gift campaign in the three months from October through December, 2013.
Inspired by Dr. Roberts’ metaphor, the matching gift campaign was named “Igniting the Fire,” and the College’s advancement staff reached out to many throughout Wyoming and the nation to help meet or exceed the goal of raising $1,000,000 over the last three months of the year.
Today, Wyoming Catholic College is pleased to announce that this “Igniting the Fire” campaign has been a resounding success, exceeding its goal by over 50%. During the past three months, donors have contributed over $1,500,000, allowing the College to begin the New Year with the holy zeal that comes from knowing that many people believe in its mission and are eager to support it.
“We are exceptionally grateful to our many friends,” said Dr. Roberts, “and for all who continue to believe so very strongly in the importance of Wyoming Catholic College and in our mission of forming young men and women as exceptional leaders—through our rigorous and integrated academic program, our Outdoor Leadership and Horsemanship Programs, and our supportive community and spiritual life. Together, we are ‘Igniting the Fire’ for a new generation—as we school the whole person in all three dimensions—body, mind, and spirit.”
Gifts for the matching gift campaign can still be made at: www.wyomingcatholiccollege.com/support.
