(Lander, Wyo.) – If you see smoke rising from the top of the ridge over Sinks Canyon, have no fear: it is a large controlled burn.

Firewise Coordinator Ron Wempen said this morning crews ignited a large slash pile that was the result of fuel reduction projects in the Homestead Park area over last summer.

The fire was lit around 10 a.m., and Wempen expects the fire to burn and smoke for the next couple days. Flames might be visible from Lander this evening.
