(Riverton, Wyo.) – A 26-year-old Riverton man was arrested on several charges Sunday night after he attempted to elude a Deputy Sheriff on North Federal Boulevard.

According to Undersheriff Ryan Lee, Adam Bumstead of Riverton was charged with Driving While Under the Influence, Eluding Police, Driving Under Suspension and No Interlock Device.

“Deputy Kevin Rieman attempted to stop a 2002 Mercury SUV in the 800 block of North Federal after he observed it weaving from lane to lane, operating with no taillights, and not displaying registration,” Lee said in a news release. “The vehicle failed to yield for at least two blocks before crashing into a snowdrift in the turning lane of North Federal Boulevard. The driver, later identified as Bumstead, exited the vehicle and ran from the Deputy. Bumstead attempted to scale a large chain link fence when he became entangled in the top barb wire strands injuring his hands. He was arrested and had to be taken to the Riverton Memorial Hospital for treatment of lacerations to his hands.”
