(Riverton, Wyo.) - A 32-year-old Riverton man that was the subject of a Search and Rescue operation Tuesday was located and reunited with family members around 6 p.m. that same night, Undersheriff Ryan Lee reported.

The man’s vehicle became stuck near a mine location in the Gas Hills Uranium District east of Riverton Monday afternoon. The man was reported to be sight-seeing in east Fremont County and did not return at 4:30 p.m. on Monday when he was expected. The report of his missing came into authorities at 9:42 p.m.

The man spent the night in the vehicle and waited for a weather system to move out of the area on Tuesday. He was then able to walk to a nearby road where he was found and taken back to Riverton. The man was not injured.

“We got our guy out, and he’s OK,” Lee said on Tuesday evening.

Three fixed wing aircraft participated in the search, along with several Search and Rescue Volunteers on the ground.
