(Evanston, Wyo.) – The newest and latest way to illegally use marijuana is for a kitchen chemist to make marijuana wax. Marijuana “wax” is more than 80% pure THC, which is the active ingredient in marijuana, compared to 20% to 30% in the marijuana leaves.

A 56 year-old resident from the State of Virginia has been arrested and charged with felony possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver and felony possession of a controlled substance in plant form following a traffic stop 40 miles east of Evanston on eastbound Interstate 80.

Larry Betterton was stopped for a speeding violation on December 13th and was found to be transporting over 13 pounds of marijuana with a street value of approximately $80,040.00. Troopers also discovered four large patties of marijuana “wax” worth approximately $11,104.00.

Numerous vaporizers were also found with the marijuana wax.

Since a final destination of the marijuana and the marijuana wax was to occur in the State of Virginia the Wyoming Highway Patrol has requested assistance from Special Agents with the Wyoming Division of Criminal Investigation.

Wyoming law enforcement authorities are working with their counterparts in Virginia on follow up investigations into this illegal trafficking case.
