(Dubois, Wyo.) – Firefighters from across Fremont County yesterday battled a large structure fire for approximately 7 hours in the Crooked Creek area.

Dubois Fire Chief Mike Franchini said when the call came in at about 4:06 p.m. there were reports of multiple structures involved in the fire. That report was determined to be unfounded. Upon arrival one large, two-story shop building, which included an apartment, was fully involved, he said. A partial collapse of the building had already started when firefighters got to the scene.

“It was a complete loss,”¬†Fremont County Fire Protection District Chief Craig Haslam.

The building was located at 49 Crooked Creek Road. Vehicles inside the building were reportedly destroyed, and a few vehicles parked near the building sustained some damage. Franchini said the fire was contained to the single structure.

The cause of the fire is currently under investigation, Franchini said, by a Division of Criminal Investigation Fire Investigator. Mop up is continuing this morning.

Dubois provided five pieces of apparatus for the fight, and volunteers from Crowheart, Pavillion, Kinnear and Riverton also provided aid. There were no injuries to either the public or firefighters, Franchini said.

Photos of the fire were not readily available. If anyone has any they would share, send them to tips@county10.com.
