(Lander, Wyo.) – This week the family of Robert and Toni Laird committed $5,000 to the construction of the Lander Community Center.
Local fundraising for the community center is currently about $250,000 shy of the $1.5 million goal. The city is currently offering low-cost opportunities to give to the effort, such as purchasing bricks or stones with the ability to put names on them. Councilor Cade Maestas said during last night’s city council that the fundraising committee hopes to bring in $50,000 this month.

Wolfe said due to the severely cold weather, the construction end date might need to be moved from July 1, 2014, to Aug. 1, 2014. However, lead contractor Sehnert Systems Inc. has not yet requested the extension.
