(Lander, Wyo.) – Fremont County Sheriff’s Deputies on Saturday night arrested a couple from Las Vegas, Nev., for possession of controlled substances.

Victor Nunez, 29, was arrested for Possession of Methamphetamine and Vicky Nunez, 20, was arrested for Possession of Marijuana and Interference with Police. All charges are misdemeanors.

“Both persons were contacted after a rental vehicle they were operating was found abandoned on South Pass,” Undersheriff Ryan Lee reported. “The rental company indicated the vehicle was ‘overdue’ and asked that it be detained.”

The vehicle was found headed into Lander as deputies were responding to the call, Lee said, and the vehicle was stopped and eventually searched. Lander Police Department’s drug dog Kai assisted in the search.

Lee said Vicky Nunez was charged with interference after she reportedly lied about her identity for more than two hours.
