(Cheyenne, Wyo.) - Governor Matthew H. Mead, pursuant to President Barack Obama’s Presidential Proclamation to lower the United States flag in honor and remembrance of Nelson Mandela, has ordered both the U.S. flag and the State of Wyoming flag be flown at half staff statewide and will remain at half staff until sunset Monday, December 9, 2013.
Mandela was South Africa’s first black president. He died on Dec. 5, 2013.
Additionally Mead, pursuant to President Obama’s National Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day 2013 Proclamation, has ordered both the U.S. flag and the State of Wyoming flag be flown at half staff statewide from sunrise to sunset on Saturday, December 7, 2013, in honor of the American patriots who died as a result of their service at Pearl Harbor.
