(Sinclair, Wyo.) – The Sinclair Oil Refinery east of Rawlins was the scene of a “minor” fire this morning around 3:30 a.m. according to SweetwaterNOW.
In October, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration division (OSHA) within the Wyoming Department of Workforce Services (DWS) indicated it would cite the Sinclair Wyoming Refining Company with $707,000 in fines for 22 violations found at the company’s Sinclair refinery operation. Just before 3 p.m today, Clint W. Ensign, the Senior Vice President for The Sinclair Companies released the following statement:
“The Sinclair Wyoming Refinery experienced a fire at approximately 3:30 a.m. today at the plant’s alkylation unit. The refinery’s fire department extinguished the blaze at 10 a.m. and the area has been secured. There were no injuries. Sinclair has notified Wyoming OSHA and we are beginning an investigation of the incident. The refinery continues to operate at rates similar to those prior to the incident.”
