(Lander, Wyo.) – The Lander City Council tonight is expected to pass the third and final reading of an ordinance that will adjust how the city bills for water and sewer, along with an ordinance that will set new rates.

The ordinance changes go hand-in-hand with forth-coming water and sewer rate changes. Sewer rates for most of the city’s users are set to increase, while water bills will decrease for some and increase for others.

The driving force behind the rate changes are to pay off loans being entered into for state-pushed improvements to the city’s wastewater infrastructure. (Read more about the background for the rate changes here.)

The city has posted the text of both the ordinance and the resolution on its website. To get a feel for what your utility bill will look like, the city has created a calculator.

Utility rate changes are slated to go into effect at the start of the year.
