(Lander, Wyo.) – Due to a forecasted winter storm, the Loop Road on the Washakie Ranger District of the Shoshone National Forest will be closed for the winter season starting this afternoon.

To ensure public safety, the Shoshone National Forest has closed the entire length of Loop Road, also known as FR300 or Louis Lake Road, from Bruce’s Campground to South Pass. For further information about the closure, please contact the Washakie Ranger District office at 307-332-5460.

As the nation’s first national forest, the Shoshone National Forest has 2.4 million acres of diverse terrain and a mission to sustain the health, diversity, and productivity of the forest to meet the needs of present and future generations.
