(Riverton, Wyo.) – The Central Wyoming Skateboards Association will ask the Riverton City Council Tuesday night to help fund a new skatepark in the city. The group is seeking $40,000 that the city has set aside in a line-item for “park improvements” in the city’s capital expenditure plan. City Administrator Steven Weaver, in a memo to the mayor and council, said it is early in the fiscal year “and there are probably many improvements that need to be made in the parks,” although he said there is not any other request for the funds at this time. Ultimately, Weaver said he would recommend the city allocate the full $40,000, which he indicated would help with the associations other fundraising to reach their goal of $270,000.
The council will also be asked to approve a contract for services for the Children’s Advocacy Project. The council earlier agreed to fund the project with $3,500. A contract would formalize the agreement.
