(Fremont County, Wyo.) – Wednesday’s law enforcement re cap from around the county. Those cited or arrested are presumed innocent until convicted in a court of law.
Fremont County Sheriff’s Office
Toby Alonzo, 37, Lander, Probation Violation.
Michael Mason, 43, Riverton, Probation Violation.
A fraud report early Tuesday morning in the Riverton area is under investigation.
At 9:03 a.m., deputies dealt with an assault at the Fremont County Detention Center. Shaniece Headley, 20, was cited for battery against another female inmate, Undersheriff Ryan Lee said. Additional details were not readily available.
At 11:25 a.m., deputies were called to the 100 block of Bluebell Lane near Riverton by a woman who said her neighbor was stuck in his truck becasue a vicious dog would not let him out. The dog eventually ran off, and deputies were unable to re-locate it.
A blue 420 Polaris was reported stolen from a yard on the 100 block of Elder Lane near Riverton. The caller said it had been parked there all summer.
At 6:49 p.m., a deputy in his patrol vehicle struck a deer on Highway 789 outside of Lander. The deputy was uninjured and the vehicle was still operable.
A Fast Lane employee in Shoshoni reportedly received a threat via phone. He reported the threat at 7:46 p.m. The threatening caller would not identify themselves.
After an alarm went off shortly after midnight on the 900 block of Fairway Court East in Riverton a caller reported that he saw two subjects in front of the house, and running away. He thought they were trying to break in. Deputies were unable to locate the suspects.
At 2 a.m., deputies were called to Riverton Memorial Hospital for an intoxicated man who appeared to be the victim of an assault. Deputies determined the injuries were sustained from a fall due to intoxication.
At 4 a.m. on Wednesday, deputies were called to the intersection of Dodrill Road and Highway 26 for a vehicle that went too fast through the intersection, crashed through a fence and struck Century Link’s building. The vehicle was reportedly a green 2012 Ford F150 pickup. There were no injuries reported and the crash was not completed by later Wednesday morning. Lander Police Department
Charles Brown, 28, Lander, Public Intoxication and Trespassing. At 9:04 p.m. on Tuesday, police were called to the 500 block of Johnson for a report of a family fight instigated a by an intoxicated man who became violent. The man fled the home before officers arrived, but officers located Brown nearby hiding. He reportedly had a .23 BAC.
A warrant arrest occurred on Eighth Street at 8:36 p.m. Carey declined to release details at this time.
At 10:54 a.m. on Tuesday, police were called to North Ninth Street for a minor two vehicle wreck. No citations were issued.
A suspicious persons report is under investigation, and Carey would not release any information about the situation.
Another minor wreck was reported in the Safeway parking lot at 5:57 p.m. No citations were issued.
Bigfoot was spotted again in Lander last night. A person called police at 9:48 p.m. saying Bigfoot, or someone in a costume, was chasing cars in the area of North Sixth and Main street, heading westward. This report came eight days after a similar report on the 400 block of Main Street. Sasquatch was not located by authorities.
Riverton Police Department
David Burt, 23, Riverton, Possession of a Controlled Substance (Bath Salts) and a Fremont County Warrant.
Joseph Brokenleg, 20, Riverton, Public Intoxication and Underage Consumption of Alcohol.
William Topaum, 36, Ethete, Public Intoxication and Shoplifting.
The following individuals were issue misdemeanor citations and released with their promise to appear in court at a later date:
A 72-year-old Riverton woman and a 51-year-old Riverton man were cited on a city code violation for Failure to Maintain Premise.
A 16-year-old St. Stephen’s boy and a 14-year-old Riverton boy were cited for Possession of Tobacco by Minor at RHS.
A 56-year-old Riverton man was cited on a city code violation for Failure to Maintain Premise.
An embezzlement was reported to the RPD at 2:09 p.m. from Walmart. The report is under investigation.
A customer at McDonalds reported someone had taken their wallet while they were in the store.
A vicious animal complaint was received in the 500 block of North Federal, allegedly for an aggressive dog running around, but police were unable to locate any dog.
Fremont County Coroner’s Office
An autopsy has been scheduled for Thursday for a 44-year-old Riverton man who was found deceased in his home on on Cheyenne Avenue after 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The coroner’s office is handling the investigation.
