(Lander, Wyo.) – The Fremont County Orchestra presents renowned pianist Richard Dowling in its fall concert to open its 27th season, Saturday, November 9, 7 p.m. at the Lander Valley High School Auditorium.
Conductor Rebecca Murdock said Dowling will perform the Liszt Piano Concerto in E Flat Major with the orchestra.
Richard Dowling appears regularly across the United States and throughout the world in orchestral performances, solo recitals and chamber music collaborations.
The concert also features selections by European composers musically related to Liszt, including Borodin’s “In the Steppes of Central Asia” and an orchestrated version of Chopin’s “Military Polonaise.” The program also features the Second Movement of Beethoven’s Seventh Symphony, Schubert’s Overture to “Rosamunde” and an abridged version of Enescu’s Second “Romanian Rhapsody.”
Although most Fremont County Orchestra members live within Fremont County, orchestra performers also come from several other Wyoming counties.
This concert is supported in part by grants from the Lander Community Foundation and the Lander District Recreation Board. The orchestra also received significant support from an anonymous matching donation, Best Western Hotels, Holiday Inns, Western Printing and Mountain Rose bed and breakfast.
Concert tickets ($ 10.00 / person; $ 20.00 / family) are available at the door. A reception with the orchestra follows the concert and includes refreshments.
