There are always outstanding performances on the field in Wyoming prep football. Here are some of the highlights from the 6th Week of football.
Week6 Keep in mind these are from stats submitted by schools around the state. There are some schools that do not submit information, therefore, they are not included in Peak Preps. Also, games on Monday were not included in the Peak Preps calculations, but, coaches were asked to submit Monday great performances.
Rushing: Tristan White of Riverton ran 219 yards on 22 carries as did Brady Barlow of Green River. White scored 3 times, Barlow twice. In the same game, Garrett Wilson of Green River also ran for 197 and 3 td’s. ALSO in the same game, Jackson’s Will Elzemeyer ran 19 times for 195 yards. More on that big GR-JAX game coming up. Tui Magalogo of Lyman ran 31 times for 194 and 2 scores while Sterling Baker of Dubois ran 194 yards on only 6 carries scored twice. Tevis Bartlett scored 4 rushing touchdowns for East running 14 times for 170 yards.
Passing: Roye Mercer of Riverside tossed the ball 47 times hitting 26 of them for 326 yards against Shoshoni with 1 TD and 1 INT. Connor McCafferty of Big Horn was 10 fo 22 for 272 and 2 td’s against Wheatland. Critter Ruwart was 16 of 26 for 271 yards and 4 td’s but also tossed 4 picks. Laramie’s Drew Burman was 12 for 28 for 232 vs East. Riverton’s Brandon Fullerton hit on 14 of 23 for 232 and 2 scores. Douglas QB Austyn Matthews tossed 5 td’s going 11 for 15 for 205 yards against Rawlins.
Recieving: Tucker McKim of Riverside caught 13 passes for 159 yards vs Shoshoni. Carter Johnson of Meeteetse caught 7 for 157 and 2 scores. Riverside’s Ethen Sherburne caught 9 for 135 and a TD. Trey Faessler of Torrington caught 7 for 128 against Riverton with a score. Logan Hartbank of Riverton caught 6 passes for 122 yards.
Defense: Jesse Youngchief of WIHS tallied 52 defensive points against Snake River. He accounted for 24.5 tackles. Merritt Crabtree of Newcastle tallied 51 points with 21.5 tackles, 3 for loss and a fumble recovery. 14 of his tackles were solo. Wade Gordon of Newcastle had 40 points. Steven Winer of Pinedale tallied 38 with Wright’s Stormy Roy collecting 38 points. Austin Quynn and Treasure Hollister, both of Guernsey-Sunrise, each had 2 interceptions.
All Purpose Yards: Meeteetse’s Seth Bennett had 25 touches for 370 yards and scored 30 points. Jackson’s Trey Evans had 20 attempts for 343 yards and 32 points. Critter Ruwart of Wheatland accounted for 333 yards for his team with 38 attempts. Roye Mercer of Riverside had 48 attempts for 318 yards.
Scoring: Evans, 32, Bennett 30, Taylor Rouse of Kaycee 28. Dillion Picket of Lovell, 26.
Great Games: The Powell defense held Worland with out a first down in their 67-0 homecoming win last Friday. They held Worland to MINUS 34 yards rushing and 1 for 12 passing for 3 yards. So a minus 31 yards for the game.
Jackson defeated Green River 64 to 48 in the highest scoring 11 man game since 1930 according to wyoming-football.com. The Broncs ran 91 plays and put up 747 yards, 511 on the ground. Green River racked up 738 yards on 72 plays. 532 of that was rushing.
