(Riverton, Wyo.) – The Riverton City Council tonight will address a proposed ordinance that deals with the control of weeds in alleyways. A liquor license transfer for the Saddle Saloon back to its previous owner is also up for approval and the councilors will hear a presentation from the Fremont County Good Samaritan Center. A temporary merchant’s license will also be discussed for a possible future agenda item.
The weed ordinance suggestion is a change in the wording of the current ordinance to make the property or lease holders responsible for controlling weeds on their properties, including the alleys behind their businesses or residences.
City Administrator Steven Weaver said a proposal that the city be responsible for alley weeds was deemed not in the best interest of the city because the city cannot now maintain all city properties with its current level of staffing.
The meeting begins with a pre-meeting at 6:45 p.m. and then the regular session beginning at 7 p.m. at Riverton City Hall. The agenda is copied below.
