(Lander, Wyo.) - The Lander Area Chamber of Commerce announced earlier this year that it is pledging $50,000 toward the construction of the new Lander community center. Chamber board members and City of Lander representatives gathered at Lander City Hall to make the pledge official. In exchange for the pledge, the Chamber obtains the naming rights to the reception area of the community center.
Councilor Cade Maestas, who is leading fundraising efforts, said the room is fitting since the Chamber is, in a sense, a gateway to the community so is the reception area the gateway to the center. “I think it’s very fitting,” he said.
Chamber Director Scott Goetz said the board and staff have worked hard the last eight years to be an economic driver for the community. He said the board understands the importance of the community center for the city’s future.
“It’s important for the city to have that asset,” Goetz said.
