(Jeffrey City, Wyo.) – In the early morning hours on Saturday, emergency responders were called the scene of a single vehicle rollover crash near Sweetwater Station.
Wyoming Highway Patrol, Fremont County Sheriff’s Deputies, Fremont County Ambulance and volunteer fire fighters from Lander Rural and Jeffrey City were called to the scene of the wreck at 5:37 a.m. on Saturday. The vehicle involved was a 2000 Buick LaSabre.
Trooper David Hockett said the vehicle driven by a Michael Fermae of Lakewood, Colo., was headed southbound on Highway 135 (Sand Draw Road) when he failed to stop or slow down at the stop sign at the intersection with Highway 287/789 adjacent to the Sweetwater Station Rest Area. Hockett said the vehicle went off the road, ramped over an embanked and rolled one and a half times.
Two of the four occupants were sent to Lander Regional Hospital for non-life-threatening injuries. Hockett said only one of the four was wearing a seat belt. Other than the driver, the other three were from Riverton.
Hockett said Fermae reported the Buick’s brakes wouldn’t work at the time of the crash. The cause of the crash is still under investigation as of Monday afternoon.
