(Lander, Wyo.) – Fremont County Commissioner Stephanie Kessler during tomorrow’s regular commission will revisit the discussion regarding helping to fund the Lander Community Center construction.
In mid-August the commission voted 3-1 to deny the Capital Improvement Maintenance Projects: Long-term Committee’s recommendation for funding. The city had requested help from the county, through the committee, to the tune of $250,000 to $500,000. The board cited budget constraints at the time of the vote as the reason for not providing any supporting grants.
Kessler, who represents the Lander district of the county, was not present at the time of the vote. Commission Chairman Doug Thompson was the lone no vote in denying the funds.
“They didn’t give us one penny,” Lander Mayor Mick Wolfe said in city council meeting following the county’s decision. “We were kind of counting on that. All of a sudden we’re half a million short. … Half a million changes a lot of things.”
Tomorrow’s discussion on the matter is scheduled for 10 a.m. The meeting itself begin at 9 a.m. in the commission’s chamber at the Fremont County Courthouse in Lander.
