(Lander, Wyo.) – Fremont County School District 1 officials and the Lander Police are working together to improve traffic flow around Gannett Peak Elementary School.
Bottlenecks have occurred on South Seventh Street where passenger cars and school buses were unable to take the same routes.
“It appears that the traffic situation has improved since our Lights On program has started, and we’re going to continue with the same process of drop-off/pick-up,” Superintendent Mike Bowman said. “If more parents start bringing their students to school this winter and traffic gets congested, we may experiment with some different patterns at that time.”
Police Chief Jim Carey said his officers have been working with the school district on the issues, and will continue to evaluate better ways to conduct traffic.
“Jake Conilogue, our School Resource Officer, reviewed the traffic last week and felt that things seemed to be going well,” Bowman said.
