(Lander, Wyo.) – The annual meeting of the Wyoming Association of County Officials (WACO) begins in earnest today with breakout session around town. The WACO conferees had a welcome reception last night at the Fremont County Pioneer Museum and an opening barbecue at the adjoining Museum of the American West.
The reception at the Pioneer Museum went off without a hitch, according to County10.com correspondent Kelsey Dayton. The Fremont County Museum Board had expressed reluctance at holding such an event inside the facility, but the reception was well staffed by Fremont County officials and the visitors behaved themselves. In fact, groups of visiting officials took time to look at the museum’s exhibits and sat at tables getting caught up with their friends and neighbors.
The various associations participating in WACO sessions include those for County Assessors, County Attorneys, Clerks of District Court, County Clerks, County Commissioners, County Coroners, County Sheriffs, and County Treasurers. Headquarters hotel for the WACO convention is the Best Western Inn at Lander, but various venues around town are being used for the individual association meetings.
Fremont County Clerk Julie Freese of Lander is the president of WACO this year.
