(Big Horn County, Wyo.) – Three people were killed in a Tuesday evening wreck near Manderson, including two young children.
Kendra Pebbles, 29; Hunter Heitzman, 3; and Katlynn Heitzman, 2, all of Manderson, lost their lives in the wreck, states a report from the Wyoming Highway Patrol. All three were in the same vehicle. Daniel Zabriskie, 34, of Harrisville, Utah, was the lone occupant of the second vehicle and he was uninjured. The crash occurred at 6:45 p.m. on Tuesday
Pebbles was driving a 2004 Ford Expedition, and Zabriskie was driving a Kenworth tractor-trailer combination.
The following is the wreck narrative from the WHP: “Zabriskie was driving his tractor trailer combination southbound on US 20. Pebbles was traveling northbound on WYO 433 and was approaching the ‘T’ intersection with US 20 where all traffic on WYO 433 is required to stop at the STOP sign. Pebbles failed to slow and stop as required and attempted to make a left turn onto northbound US 20. Her vehicle travelled into the path of Zabriskie’s tractor trailer combination whereupon her vehicle was struck in the driver’s side door. After impact, Pebbles vehicle rolled 1/4 time and both vehicles traveled across the northbound lanes coming to rest on the shoulder.”
“Troopers investigating this fatal crash list excessive speed and failed to observe the stop sign as contributing factors,” states the report.
Pebbles and Hunter Heitzman died at the scene. Katlynn Heitzman died at 2 a.m. Wednesday morning at Saint Vincent Hospital in Billings, Mont. All were wearing seat belts or in child safety seats.
