There are always outstanding performances on the field in Wyoming prep football. Here are some of the highlights from the 3rd Week of football.
WEEK 3 Keep in mind these are from stats submitted by schools around the state. There are some schools that do not submit information, therefore, they are not included in Peak Preps.
Rushing: Landen Bradshaw of Lyman ran 34 times for 262 yards in a six point loss to Lovell. He scored twice. Dubois Senior Sterling Baker racked up 250 yards on only 14 carries and scored 3 times. He also ‘assisted’ a couple of other scores as he pitches back to an open Ram after getting tackled. Austin Quynn of Guernsey ran for 247 on only 9 carries and scored 5 times in a 90 point Viking offensive performance. Tyler Cornwell of Thermop ran for 245 on 30 carries and scored twice while Tui Magalogo of Lyman added 229 yards on 30 carries with two touchdowns.
Passing: Sheridan’s Kameron Eckard went 11 for 22 for 284 yards and 3 td’s in the Broncs’ 42 to 21 win over #1 East. Roye Mercer of Riverside tossed 17 of 33 for 251 while Calder Forcella of Greybull was 17 of 24 for 226 yards and 3 td’s. Trevor Williamson of Wyoming Indian was 9 of 15 for 214 yards and 5 touchdowns. Sterling Baker of Dubois hit of 7 of 9 for 214 yards and 5 td’s.
Recieving: Nick Gill of Sheridan caught 4 passes for 165 yards and a touchdown. Rowan Hawk of Dubois caught 4 for 130 and a score. Tucker McKim of Riverside caught 9 passes for 125 yards and Kyle right of Pinedale caught 7 for 117 and 2 scores. Caleb Flake of Mountain View caught 7 passes for 116 yards and two scores.
Defense: Peter-John Bennett had a monster defensive game for Kaycee vs NSI. He scored 66 points with 24 tackles, 8 for loss, 3 sacks, 1 punt block and 1 fumble recovery. Sterling Baker scored 43 with 13 solo tackles, a punt block, two fumble recoveries and an interception. Dean Koch of Kaycee had 35 points while Mason Lube of Big Horn, Lindwarme of Lander, and Nathan Moore of Dubois all had 33 points. 4A’s best defensive game came from Darek Mattinson of Rock Springs with 29 points.
All Purpose Yards: Sterling Baker of Dubois: 26 attempts with 569 yards and 24 points scored. 132 of that came on kick off returns. Nick Gill of Sheridan had 14 touches for 366 yards and 16 points. Tyler Cornwell of Thermpolis was 36 for 352.
Scoring: Seth Bennett of Meeteetse scored 54 points for the Longhorns. Cannon Simmons of Rocky Mountain scored 30 while Theo Dawson of Jackson scored 22.
Great Games: Sterling Baker of Dubois: 7 of 9 passing for 187 yards, 14 rushes for 250 yards, accounted for five td’s on offense. Added 132 yards in KO returns and a score. Also added 43 defensive points with 13 solo tackles, a punt block, two fumble recoveries and an interception. Cannon Simmons of Rocky Mountain: 15 rushes for 198 yards and 3 td’s. Caught 2 passes for 60 yards and a touchdown. He also scored a defensive touchdown. Austyn Matthews of Douglas: 9 carries for 114 yards and a td. he was 7 of 16 passing for 160 yards and 2 scores.
