(Riverton, Wyo.) – Riverton Police Chief Mike Broadhead this week cleared up confusion expressed by some city residents over when speed limits are in effect in school zones.
“School zones are posted and they do apply every day from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., even when school is not in session,” Broadhead said. The chief said the reason for keeping the school speed zones in place all year long is that “schools are magnets for kids, even on weekends and in the summer.” He said it was a safety issue.
Broadhead said the police department recently checked every school zone speed sign in the city and he said they found one that had incorrect times posted on it, but that it’s being replaced.
