(Riverton, Wyo.) – Central Wyoming College’s Women’s Basketball Team for the 2012-13 Season has been named the National Junior College Athletic Association’s Academic Team of the Year.
The team was recognized in front of CWC’s Board of Trustees by Assistant Dean for Student Service Steve Barlow and Coach Serol Stauffenberg on Wednesday evening. The team as a whole had a 3.52 GPA. The award was announced in June.
Barlow said the award was not only a testimony to the hard work of the students, but also to the strengths of the faculty. He noted the Volleyball team was also a contender for the award with 3.27 GPA.
Stauffenberg thanked the board for the recognition and congratulated Abbey Wilson and Tina Hosea, seen above holding the plaque, who were members of last year’s team.
He said since the program’s return, the Women’s Basketball Team has won the award each year. “Don’t make me start county,” he told this year’s team.
