(Cheyenne, Wyo.) – The United States Attorney’s office in Cheyenne today released sentencing information on two Fremont County residents convicted of separate crimes. They are:

Tina F. Knott, 40, of Lander, was sentenced by Chief Federal District Court Judge Nancy D. Freudenthal on September 12 for social security fraud. Knott appeared pursuant to a subpoena. She received five years of probation and was ordered to pay a $100.00 special assessment. Restitution was ordered and will be determined at a later date. This case was investigated by the Social Security Administration, Office of the Inspector General.

Charles Lee Caines, 30, of Riverton, was sentenced by Freudenthal, also on September 12, for possession of child pornography. Caines was arrested in Lander. He received 72 months imprisonment (six years), to be followed by 22 years supervised release. He was also ordered to pay a $100.00 special assessment and a $400.00 fine. This case was investigated by the Wyoming Division of Criminal Investigation Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force.

CORRECTION

(Cheyenne, Wyo.) – On Thursday, September 19, the United States Attorney’s Office provided a press release that incorrectly identified Christopher Lee Caines, 33, as having been convicted and sentenced for possession of child pornography.  The actual defendant is Charles Lee Caines, 30, of Riverton.

The United States Attorney’s Office apologizes for this error.
